Employee Spotlight: Celebrating 30 Years of Leadership and Legacy — Matt Shipp

For over 30 years, Matt Shipp has been the steady hand guiding Rytech Restoration through growth, change, and success. From the early days when Rytech was a small water mitigation company in Georgia to its expansion into a nationally recognized leader in water, fire, and mold restoration, Matt has been there every step of the way.

His journey is more than a career, it’s a story of loyalty, leadership, and a commitment to doing things the Rytech way: fast, efficient, consistent restoration.

A 30-Year Journey of Purpose and Progress

When Matt joined Rytech three decades ago, the company was just starting to make its mark in the restoration industry. He began in the field, working hands-on to help property owners recover from water and mold damage. Over time, his attention to detail, passion for problem-solving, and commitment to empowering others propelled him into leadership.

“I’ve proudly been part of the Rytech family for 30 incredible years,” Matt says. “It’s been a journey marked by growth, resilience, and a deep sense of purpose.”

After years in operations, Matt now serves as Director of Operations, overseeing systems and standards that keep Rytech franchises across the country running smoothly. His leadership helps ensure that every customer, whether residential or commercial—receives the same quality, professionalism, and care that built Rytech’s trusted reputation.

Leadership Rooted in Integrity

Matt credits Rytech’s founder and CEO, William “Bubba” Ryan, as a major influence on his professional journey.

“Without question, Bubba’s leadership and mentorship have shaped my career in profound ways,” Matt shares. “But I’ve also learned something valuable from everyone I’ve worked with. The family culture and focus on continuous improvement here have always inspired me.”

His leadership style reflects Rytech’s core values: teamwork, accountability, and integrity. Those same principles guide Rytech’s operations every day, ensuring every restoration project is handled with care, precision, and professionalism.

Whether it’s supporting local franchise owners, reviewing complex files, or troubleshooting in the field, Matt approaches every task with the same mission-driven mindset: do the right thing—always.

Behind the Scenes: A Day in the Life

In his role as Director of Operations, no two days look alike. Matt spends his time overseeing project files, reviewing compliance standards, and making sure franchise teams have what they need to succeed.

He also supports Rytech’s national network in maintaining consistency—something that’s essential for commercial clients, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators who depend on Rytech’s rapid, reliable service.

“I spend a lot of time making sure our teams have the tools and support they need to succeed,” he says. “Our mission and the people I work with keep me motivated every single day.”

The People and Purpose Behind the Passion

Ask Matt what he enjoys most about working at Rytech, and he doesn’t hesitate: the people and the purpose.

“The mission keeps me energized, but it’s the people that make it meaningful,” he says. “Our culture is built on family, caring, and teamwork. That’s what keeps me going.”

Outside of work, Matt brings that same spirit of family to his personal life. He enjoys spending time at the lake, watching Georgia Tech football, and cheering on his grandson’s baseball games. A devoted family man, he values the relationships he’s built—both at home and at work.

“Relationships matter to me—both at home and at work,” Matt shares. “That’s what life’s about.”

Wisdom for the Next Generation

After three decades with Rytech, Matt has learned a thing or two about building a lasting career—and a lasting company. His advice to new team members is simple and powerful:

“Stay curious and open. There’s something to learn from everyone around you. Prioritize exceptional customer service, take ownership of your responsibilities, and let integrity guide every decision. Always do the right thing.”

It’s advice that perfectly aligns with Rytech’s founding philosophy—earning trust, one job at a time.

And when asked about the best advice he’s ever received, Matt smiles:

“Always do the right thing. And from Bubba Ryan himself: Never say no.

A Legacy That Inspires

As Matt looks toward the future, he’s looking forward to more time with family and, eventually, retirement by the lake—but the Rytech bond, he says, won’t fade.

“I may retire soon, but I’ll always be part of the Rytech family. That bond doesn’t end when the workday does.”

For Rytech Restoration, Matt’s story is more than an employee spotlight—it’s a testament to what commitment, integrity, and teamwork can achieve. His leadership and dedication have shaped Rytech’s history and continue to inspire its future.
