- Sponges " Forget about the little kitchen sink sponge; you need a professional-size grout sponge to swab large amounts of disinfectant by hand. Most are 5×7 inches in size.

- Rubber gloves " Don't touch anything that's contacted flood water without them. The best kind extend up to the elbows.
