October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month? While most of us are aware breast cancer exists, far too few of us actively work to end it.

This annual observance campaign was founded in 1985. It was founded to increase awareness and support in the fight against this deadly disease.

In the fall of 1991, the Susan G. Komen foundation made the first major display of this fight. Holding a breast cancer survivor race in New York City, they were the first organization to hand out pink ribbons to breast cancer survivors.

Two years later, in 1993, Estée Lauder and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation formerly established the pink ribbon as the symbol for the fight against breast cancer. An identity was born.

In the last 20 plus years since that first pink ribbon was given, millions of dollars have been raised; billions of miles have been walked, run, skipped and jumped; and thousands of survivors have won their battle. Breast cancer awareness is a powerful thing.

It's a fight of which we at Rytech are privileged to be a part of. In partnership with The Donna Foundation, Team Rytech is participating in the 26.2 with Donna race.

We hope you'll join us in the fight against breast cancer by participating in the race, making a donation or sending us a word of encouragement. (Those on our team running the full marathon have a long way to go!)

If you have any questions about The Donna Foundation, Team Rytech's participation in this charity, or general thoughts about breast cancer awareness, please contact us at Rytech. While we may handle water damage on a daily basis, we are also incredibly passionate and committed to increasing breast cancer awareness and fighting this deadly disease.
